Pops at the Ranch

The Reno Philharmonic kicks off the summer season with a free community concert for July 3 at Bartley Ranch. Pops at the Ranch will feature the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert will present patriotic music to get the crowd ready for the 4th of July weekend. The orchestra will be lead by Jason Altieri, Associate Conductor as well as conductor of the Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestras and the UNR orchestra.

Pops in the Park

The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra has performed at “Pops in the Park” in Genoa to capacity crowds for over 25 years, and could be a best kept secret up north in Reno. The Sierra Philharmonic League organizes the family friendly event with clowns, strolling musicians, along with silent and live auctions. Bring the family, a picnic and a blanket. The Philharmonic Orchestra with Associate Conductor Jason Altieri caps off the day performing at Mormon State Park at 4:30 pm. Festivities begin at 1 pm and the main concert is at 4:30 pm. Pops in the Park is the major fundraising event produced by the Sierra Philharmonic League.

The four Discover Music events will each feature a different small ensemble from the Reno Philharmonic Association’s Discover Music program, doing hands on interactive 45 minute performance for elementary age children. Come meet the members of the brass instrument family which include the trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba. The Great Basin Brass Quintet will guide students in learning how these loud instruments work. The event includes interactive activities for kids and families including an instrument petting zoo.

Young Musicians Showcase

This is a rare opportunity to experience the region’s elite young musicians, up close and personal. Many of the featured musicians have served in principal positions in the award winning Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestras. With top-notch performances, soloists and ensembles, The “Young Musicians Showcase” is a chance to hear the best local musicians in the lovely setting of Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Reno.

Cowboy up! Season Opener of the Phil Up! Season

Don and Waddie ride back into town after a long absence from the Reno Phil to kick off the season of Phil Up! Pops Series. The duo performed as part of the first Rhythm & Rawhide concerts in 2003 and 2004. This exciting and unique concert will feature the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Laura Jackson, performing western favorites alongside Grammy-nominated Western Balladeer, Don Edwards, and Nevada Entertainer of the Millennium, Waddie Mitchell, Cowboy Poet.  Enjoy a Reno summer evening for music, words and memories sure to linger.
