David Ehrke
Principal Clarinet
David Ehrke, principal clarinet with the Reno Philharmonic for over 20 years, has performed with Dick Van Dyke, Ray Charles, Michael Bolton, Luciano Pavarotti, Eddie Daniels, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. His musical training includes The New England Conservatory of Music (Master of Music) and the University of Southern California (Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance), where he was a student of Mitchell Lurie. He is a Professor of Music at UNR where he received the “Teacher of the Year” award in 1987 and the Mousel/Feltner Award for Excellence in Research and/or Creative Activity. His conducting credits include the Reno Philharmonic, the Reno Chamber Orchestra and the Nevada Festival Ballet’s annual production of the Nutcracker. An avid golfer who has attained true mediocrity he also enjoys, skiing, fishing, biking and anything outdoors. He is married to Cheryl Erwin with a son Philip.
