About
Caroline Karl is a graduate of The University of Michigan School of Music-Ann Arbor (B.M. 1993) where she studied cello with Jerome Jelinek and music education with Robert Culver. She holds a M.M. (1999) in music education from the Universityof Georgia-Athens. After receiving her Bachelor’s, Caroline taught orchestra in the Atlanta Public Schools where she co-directed an honor orchestra. Upon finishing her Master’s, she returned to her home town of Livonia, Michigan to direct the Franklin High School Orchestras. In 2006, Caroline relocated to Renowhere she currently directs the orchestras at Damonte Ranch High School, Kendyl Depoali Middle School, and teaches the Reno Philharmonic’s Celebrate Strings after school violin program. During her seventeen years of public school teaching, she has taught orchestra, band, and general music to students in grades K-12 and has been honored with inclusion in Marquis’ Who’s Who in American Education. Caroline, a certified Suzuki teacher, is an active member in MENC, ASTA, and SAA.
Linda Brown was born and raised in Hays,Kansas. She received her bachelor’s and masters degrees from Fort Hays State. She taught for six years in Spartanburg, South Carolina and played in the Spartanburg Symphony. She was president of the South Carolina ASTA organization. She then made the move to Nevada and has taught in the Washoe County School District ever since. She also plays violin with the Reno Pops Orchestra and directs two bell choirs with her son Ben. She started teaching Celebrate Strings in two schools last January. Mrs. Brown is married with two sons. She loves to spend Saturdays hiking on a mountain trail or curled up with a book.
