Young Peoples Concerts
The Reno Philharmonic, in partnership with Washoe County School District, presents 8 Young People’s Concerts (YPCs) for nearly 15,000 third, fourth and fifth-graders. Students travel by bus to the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts from Washoe County School District schools, as well as from outlying, private, and home schools. The fall YPCs are performed by the professional Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, while the spring YPCs are performed by the Youth Symphony Orchestra.
This concert experience is intended to provide young listeners with an enjoyable introduction to symphonic music, enhance live music appreciation, and hopefully inspire them to become musicians themselves.
As part of a comprehensive program, teachers and students can obtain study guides and recordings in advance to prepare them to fully appreciate the concert-going experience.
Spring 2012 ypc performances
The Spring 2012 Young People’s Concerts will be held Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, and be performed by the Reno Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra. We will try to accommodate as many schools as possible but the Pioneer Center holds exactly 1500 seats, so get your registration in early.
