Jessica Rivera and Kelley O'Connor

The Classix Six finale closes the season with what is sure to be a memorable concert in Reno Philharmonic history. The evening begins with Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068, featuring the brilliant sounds of three piccolo trumpets. That sets the stage for Mahler’s epic Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection” arguably the most important work composed by the twentieth century’s premiere symphonist.

The work features massive orchestral and choral forces as well and soloists. Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony embodies the composer’s vision of the transition from life to death and a deeply powerful depiction of the resurrection. The work not only showcases the unbridled talent of the orchestra and chorus, but will also feature two magnificent soloists, Jessica Rivera and Kelley O’Connor. Both artists perform regularly with the greatest symphonies and opera companies around the world.
