CHESAPEAKE: SUMMER OF 1814
In advance of the 200th anniversary of The Star-Spangled Banner in September 2014, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra with music director Laura Jackson celebrated the upcoming bicentennial with a world premiere of Chesapeake: Summer of 1814 on March 17 & 19, 2013. Chesapeake is an homage written exclusively for the orchestra and chorus by the acclaimed composer Michael Gandolfi, combined with visual direction and design by renowned artist Anne Patterson.
Chesapeake: Summer of 1814 is now available to orchestras everywhere. This piece is a vital opportunity for all American orchestras to serve their communities, to give listeners a moving emotional experience, and to engage new and diverse audiences in the symphonic experience.
Everyone says it, but this really is a unique, once every-two-hundred-year opportunity to be relevant to every person with his or her feet on American soil.
