Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Peter Lenz is Director of Research and Development for EP Minerals. Son to Elizabeth and Gilbert Lenz, Peter developed an appreciation for music – much like his brothers and sisters, many of which perform with the Reno Phil Orchestra. He took music courses in college while studying at UNR’s Mackay School of Mines. He was always interested in Nevada’s mining and geological history, which led him to earning a degree in mining engineering. Although the mining world is his day job, Peter still loves to perform and has served as Principal Cello for both the Reno Phil and Reno Chamber Orchestra. Peter has two daughters, Julie and Elizabeth, both of which are involved in music. Elizabeth occasionally plays in the Reno Phil Orchestra.
A native of Reno, Nevada, Dustin Budish studied at Oberlin College and the Cleveland Institute of Music with Jeffrey Irvine where he received his Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance. Dustin earned his Master of Music with honors at the New England Conservatory. He’s performed at the Ravinia, Norfolk CT, Cactus Pear and Nevada Chamber Music Festivals. As a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra he played in Europe, Asia, and Israel. He performed in Carnegie Hall with Yo-Yo Ma as a member of Miami’s New World Symphony. Dustin is the Principal Viola of the Reno Phil and the Reno Chamber Orchestra. He is also the conductor for the Reno Phil’s Youth Chamber Orchestra. Dustin has a passion for nurturing the next generation of musicians and teaches a private studio of young violinists and violists in the region.
