In 2023, the event and concert will take place in Wingfield Park in downtown Reno. Wingfield Park is located at 2 S. Arlington St (at 1st and Arlington).
The gates will open at 5:00 pm. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and is roughly 2 hours long.
• Parking is available at the 1st Street Garage (at your expense).
• Handicapped parking is available at Barbara Bennett Park or on 1st Street.
• Barbara Bennett Park, side streets, & the city lot at the corner of Sierra & Court streets may have additional parking.
Unloading/Loading is done at the Arlington entrance ONLY. Unload your items, then park your car. DO NOT PARK ON ARLINGTON BY THE PARK! We encourage you to come early to avoid traffic jams.
There will be two entrances to the venue: one on Arlington, and the second across the bridge from 1st Street.
Make sure you have your wristband ON! Security at the gates will be checking for wristbands.
Please note, there will be security pre-check stations prior to the wristband checks— NO GLASS is allowed!
In order to receive a wristband, you must register for the event prior to June 23, 2023. All sponsorship, table, and GA ticket purchasers will receive a follow-up email that will contain the link to the registration site.
Wristbands are mailed out in small packages with park information in late June, prior to the concert.
PLEASE PUT YOUR WRISTBAND ON PRIOR TO ENTERING THE PARK. Your ticket to enter the park is your wristband.
There will be no will call available at Pops on the River this year; all guests must have their wristbands prior to the event.
Vendors will be selling some beverages and food items within the park. Some attendees bring their own picnic dinners (outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed, but NO GLASS—including food storage containers!)
You are also allowed to have a caterer deliver food to your table.
NOTE: When dropping off your order to the park, your caterer will not be allowed to leave their vehicle unattended. There is absolutely no cooking or preparation allowed in the park. Food is to be brought in prepared and if you have a caterer bringing food to the park for your table, they can only drop it off–they are not permitted to set up a serving or prep station.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE CONTAINERS
Guests may bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages, but NO GLASS is allowed in the park!
Please try to limit the size and number of your coolers, so that they will fit under your table. This will allow room for the judges and fellow participants to view all the tables.
Decorate your table, have fun, be creative, and win a prize! Tables are 8 ft long x 30″ wide x 30″ tall
Judging starts at 6:00 p.m. YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO BE JUDGED. Be sure you register your table so that the judges know to visit you!
Tall decorations must be taken down prior to the concert so as not to block your neighbor’s view.
Categories for judging are: Most Historic, Most Elegant, Most Outrageous, Best Motown, and Best of Show.
Special notes on decorations:
• Tall decorations must be taken down prior to the concert so as not to block your neighbor’s view.
• NO GLASS is allowed in Wingfield Park—please do not bring glass of any kind to decorate your table.
• DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN TABLES TO FIT IN NEXT TO YOUR ASSIGNED TABLES.
• PLEASE REMOVE DECORATIONS FROM THE PARK WHEN YOU LEAVE!!!
A packet will be on each table containing programs, announcements, and trash bags for disposal of trash at the end of the concert. Please do not leave anything on your table. Fill your trash bag and leave it by an exit on your way out of the venue.
Dress as casually or as elegantly as you like. Costumes are encouraged if you are decorating a table.
Please keep noise to a minimum during the concert, so that everyone can enjoy the music.
Buy raffle tickets for an opportunity to win one of many fabulous gift baskets! All proceeds benefit the Reno Phil.
Tickets are $10 for 1 ticket, $20 for 3 tickets, and $100 for 20 tickets.
POPS ON THE RIVER is a fun party, and we encourage everyone to enjoy themselves. We also ask that each group have a designated driver to avoid any unfortunate situations.
PLEASE REMOVE ALL DECORATIONS FROM THE PARK AND PICK UP YOUR TRASH WHEN YOU LEAVE
Where is GA (general admission) located?
GA attendees can sit on the grass or dirt areas OUTSIDE the marked table area. No seating is provided; you must bring your own chairs and/or blankets. Prior to the concert, GA patrons are welcome to tour the tables.
When will I get my tickets?
Wristbands will be mailed to attendees the last week of June. Each attendee must register on our website prior to June 23, 2023 in order to receive wristbands (all purchasers will receive a link and code to send to their guests).
How do I get all my stuff into the park?
There will be a small loading/unloading zone located along Arlington Street; you CAN NOT park in this area–you must unload and then park elsewhere. We recommend limiting your items or purchasing your food and beverages from vendors inside the park.
Can children come?
The music is appropriate for children, but the atmosphere tends to be more adult. Additionally, there are NO discounts for children. We recommend that children come to one of our free family concerts instead!
Is food available?
Yes, vendors will be selling some beverages and food items within the park.
Attendees may also bring their own picnic dinners (outside food and non-alcoholics beverages are allowed, but NO GLASS—including food storage containers!) If you choose to use a caterer rather than bring in food please note:
Your caterer must not leave their vehicle unattended when dropping off your order to the park. There is absolutely no cooking or catering allowed in the park. Food is to be brought in prepared and if you have a caterer bringing food to the park for your table, they can only drop it off–they are not permitted to set up a serving or prep station.
