RENO, Nev. (March 13, 2020) – In accordance with recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, the Reno Phil’s upcoming concert Scheherazade (March 21 & 22, 2020) will be canceled in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ticket holders will receive an email regarding all the options available and can contact the Reno Phil Box Office by emailing boxoffice@renophil.com or calling 775.323.6393.

“The Reno Phil has been here through many of our city’s most significant moments,” commented President & CEO Tim Young. “As we come together to protect the health of our community, the Reno Phil is dedicated to providing a safe environment to enjoy live music. The situation with COVID-19 has put musicians and other freelance artists in a vulnerable financial position. We are deeply committed to our musicians, and as such, will still be compensating them for this set. Proceeds from tickets that are donated back will be used to offset these costs. We appreciate your ongoing support of the orchestra, and all our state’s cultural institutions, during this uncertain time.”

The decision prioritizes public health by restricting all large gatherings, and the Reno Phil is committed to the health and safety of everyone in our community.

“As a nonprofit, the cancellation of concerts will have a significant financial impact on the Reno Phil due to unrecoverable losses in ticket sales,” shares Angela White, Board Chair. “Continued support from our community during this uncertain time is vital to the future of the Reno Phil. It helps ensure the orchestra will be there to share the joy of live music with you again soon, in addition to bringing music education to the region’s youth.
