Dear Reno Phil Chorus Member,
Thank you so much for your dedication to the Reno Phil Chorus! You are what makes this organization work, and I am so thankful for your heart, your spirit and your VOICE! Also, thank you for all of the emails and cards and well wishes through my cancer diagnosis and treatment. Your well wishes helped me so much in the battle.
The last two years, as you remember, we requested your commitment for the entire service year. It was a little bumpy with some questions at the start, but paid great dividends with strong commitments from many singers, resulting in wonderfully successful productions. Complete participation is preferred. However, we understand that there may be extenuating circumstances that prevent you from singing in every concert. If you have a concern or an exemption request, please contact Jennie and/or Kasey. Again this year, the Philharmonic leadership (Laura Jackson, Jason Altieri, Tim Young and I) ask for that same level of commitment from each singer in the chorus.
We want to strongly encourage you to consider your membership in the chorus to be a complete year commitment! We love to have a full chorus for all of our performances. It is challenging to program when 120 people say they are available to perform a piece, we order 120 pieces of music, we plan for 120 seats on stage, then to have 100-110 actually complete the performance. Each of you, truly, is valuable.
Laura, Tim, Jason and I have worked carefully to create a year-long calendar. I am asking you to look at the dates, and assess your availability. Then, indicate your name, section, and a yes or no for the season. Attendance requirements remain the same – you are expected (barring unforeseen circumstances) to attend 80% of pre-concert week rehearsals, and are allowed ONE absence concert week, but it must NOT be the final dress rehearsal. (5 of 6 Spirit rehearsals, 4 of 5 Classix 6 rehearsals). All pre-concert rehearsals are 9:30 – 11:30 am, Saturdays, unless otherwise noted.
Directing the Phil Chorus is a wonderful part of my week, and I love the beauty we create together. I am so grateful for all of you and the hard work you devote as a volunteer for this group! I invite you to perform with us for the full season!
