The first concert the Reno Phil played featured music by iconic American composer George Gershwin, and we will open this season with a nod to that history by performing two works by Gershwin. The lecture will also explore Maurice Ravel’s influence on Gershwin, and why Ravel refused him as a student! Come find out more in this lecture presented by musicologists Dr. Mark Clague and Timothy Freeze.
Dust off your instrument! Join Conductor Laura Jackson and musicians from the Reno Phil for an afternoon of music making on Sunday January 6, 2019. The whole community is invited! DVORAK Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, op. 95 "From the New World"
Join the Reno Phil in celebration of the American West. Hear the unveiling of Grammy-nominated composer Zhou Tian's commissioned work, inspired by the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad - which united the nation and gave new life to the city of Elko. A NIGHT AT WOODSTOCK
Take a trip back in time to New York’s Catskill Mountains, circa 1969, as Pops on the River presents A Night at Woodstock. Throw on your best tie-dyed shirt and join the Reno Phil Orchestra and guest vocalists as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the seminal music festival. You will hear songs made famous by Janis Joplin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Santana and more. Pops on the River is a fundraising event featuring a costume contest, raffle and unforgettable concert.
